FoodEx 2025 Exhibition

FoodEx, derived from “Food Excellence,” is the flagship annual exhibition organized by the Department of Agriculture & Food Technology in collaboration with the Food Technology Association of the University of Vocational Technology. The event promotes innovation, sustainability, and technological advancement within the food industry.

FoodEx’25 marked its 5th consecutive edition and was held in conjunction with World Youth Skills Day (WYSD). The exhibition featured more than 75 innovative food products developed by students, reflecting this year’s theme, “A Green Future Powered by Technology.”

The exhibition was ceremonially opened by Acting Vice Chancellor Dr. L.W.S. Kularatne. An expert panel of judges selected 18 outstanding innovations, while visitors to the exhibition voted to select the most popular product.

The FoodEx’25 Awarding Ceremony was held on 16th July 2025 in the University Auditorium. Winners were recognized in the presence of distinguished guests including Senior Professor K.K.D.S. Ranaweera and Mr. Ravi Jayawardena (Group CEO – Maliban Group).

Maliban Group served as the Lead Sponsor, Nestlé Lanka Pvt Ltd as the Gift Partner, and Sunquick Lanka Pvt Ltd as the Beverage Partner. A special highlight was the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award presented to Ms. Kavindya Jayasinghe, a former participant who successfully launched her own business venture.
