The Full Narrative
The University of Vocational Technology (UoVT) has been pivotal in Samantha’s academic and professional journey, demonstrating the strength of Sri Lanka’s vocational education pathway. Her career began with a Diploma from the Technician Training Institute in 1995, followed by the NDES in Civil Engineering. After fifteen years of professional practice, she joined the inaugural B.Tech in Building Services Technology program at UoVT in 2010 and graduated in 2014 with the Medal for Best Academic Performance. Soon after, she was appointed as a Lecturer in the Department of Building Services Technology at UoVT. The B.Tech program shaped her focus on sustainable construction, leading her to become an Accredited Green Building Consultant in 2015. Her academic path has since expanded with an MSc in Environmental Science and ongoing doctoral research at the University of Colombo on environmental systems and advanced building services. Today, her progression from Diploma to B.Tech illustrates how vocational education equips professionals to lead the transition towards resilient built environments.
