IEEE Day 2025: Celebrating Innovation and Excellence in Technology

IEEE Day 2025 was ceremoniously held on 14th October 2025 at the University of Vocational Technology, organized by the IEEE Student Branch in alignment with the global IEEE Day celebrations. The occasion was particularly significant as it also marked the 7th anniversary of the IEEE Student Branch of UoVT, celebrating seven years of dedication to technological excellence and student empowerment.

The event was graced by distinguished chief guests including Professor Shanmuganathan Vasanthapriyan, Chair of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section; Mr. Dhammika Marasinghe, Immediate Past Chair of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section; and Mr. Manodya Nabadawewa, Chair of the IEEE Student Activities Committee. Their presence underscored the strong connection between the student branch and the national IEEE leadership.

The celebration was further honored by the participation of Acting Vice Chancellor Dr. Sunil Kularathna and IEEE Student Branch Counsellor Ms. Samantha Manawadu, reflecting the university’s continued support for IEEE initiatives and student-led professional development activities.

IEEE Day 2025 featured inspirational sessions, engaging discussions, interactive activities, and commemorative moments recognizing the branch’s milestones and achievements over the past seven years. The event fostered a spirit of unity, innovation, and professional growth, reinforcing the Student Branch’s mission to cultivate technically competent and globally connected graduates.
