University of Vocational Technology Gavel Club

Empowering Voices, Building Leaders,
Inspiring Confidence
The University of Vocational Technology Gavel Club is a student-led club at the University of Vocational Technology that focuses on developing undergraduates’ communication, leadership, and public speaking skills. Established in 2016 as an affiliate of Toastmasters International, the club provides a supportive platform where students can practice English speaking, build confidence, and enhance interpersonal skills through regular educational meetings and activities.
Our Impact
The University of Vocational Technology Gavel Club has actively contributed to the development of communication and leadership skills among undergraduates through various initiatives, achievements, and collaborations. The club achieved 1st Runner-Up at Gavel Got Talent during the Gavel Conference 2017. In 2017, the club organized “Petrichor 2017,” the first intra-university speech competition at UoVT. Members have actively represented the university by participating in major events such as Gavel Conference and Ovation etc.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Skills Enhancement
Contributes to the professional development of its members by providing opportunities to enhance public speaking, leadership, and communication skills. Through regular meetings, workshops, and training sessions such as the Lighthouse Skills Development Workshop and Art of Speaking Seminar, members gain practical experience in speech preparation, presentation, and evaluation.
Networking & Collaboration
Encourages networking and collaboration with other Gavel Clubs and Toastmasters communities, allowing members to connect with experienced speakers and professionals. By organizing events, competitions such as Petrichor, and participating in conferences like Gavel Conference and Ovation District 82 Conference, members gain leadership experience, teamwork skills, and confidence.
